Currently, the City of Windsor is seeking candidates for a Temporary Part-Time position at Huron Lodge. The successful candidate will report to the Registered Nurse or designate and assist in assessments, therapeutic nursing interventions, and evaluation of nursing care outcomes. Duties include medication administration, providing professional nursing care for residents, coordinating work assignments, and responding to residents' needs in a courteous manner. The position also involves monitoring residents' physiological and psychological changes, performing administrative duties, and assisting in maintaining a clean environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize the nursing process to assist the Registered Nurse in assessments, interventions, and evaluation
  • Administer medications as prescribed and specified
  • Provide professional nursing care for residents and coordinate work assignments
  • Respond to residents' needs in a courteous manner and ensure proper documentation
  • Assist with activities of daily living and monitor for changes
  • Perform administrative duties, required documentation, and assist in orientation
  • Maintain a clean environment and follow emergency preparedness plan
  • Attend in-service training and follow health and safety protocols
  • Qualifications:

  • Must have a two-year Community College Diploma in Nursing or equivalent
  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Experience in clear, accurate documentation and communication skills
  • Knowledge of human growth and development, observation, and judgement skills
  • Genuine interest in the elderly and commitment to residents' well-being
  • Ability to adapt care approach to residents' preferences and needs
  • Experience in a long-term care setting preferred
  • Related courses, professional development, and community experience considered assets
  • Current Heart Saver Level A and First Aid Certificates deemed assets
  • Additional language skills are an asset
