Central Zone RA, Drayton Valley, Drayton Valley CHC is seeking a Children's Mental Health Therapist to work collaboratively with various professionals to support child and adolescent clients with emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate independence, navigate complex systems, and have a positive track record in working with mental health issues in children, youth, and families. Responsibilities include screening, assessment, treatment, teaching, and liaison with families and community providers.

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will utilize various treatment modalities to assist individuals facing significant mental health challenges. You will provide crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management, and treatment as part of a multidisciplinary team. This position is classified as Mental Health Therapist Prov and is a regular part-time role with specific shift patterns and salary ranges.

Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, or Psychiatric Nursing

Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college

Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health

Excellent assessment skills and formal clinical training in child and adolescent mental health

Knowledge of therapeutic interventions such as CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy

Effective interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred qualifications include experience with Child and Family Services, Health Partnership Initiatives, and Multicultural groups. Registration with the applicable licensing body is required for this position.

Your Opportunity:  
Reporting directly to the Manager or designate, this Children's Mental Health Therapist will work collaboratively with Recovery Alberta staff, psychiatry, public health and school personnel to provide support to the child and adolescent clients to address emotional, behavioural and mental health concerns. The service is delivered in multiple settings. This individual will value and appreciate collaboration and evidence-informed practices. The successful individual will demonstrate a high degree of independence and ability to understand and navigate the potential complexities of working across different systems. This individual will have a proven positive track record of working with complex issues relating to the mental health of children, youth and/or families. Responsibilities include screening, consultation, assessment and treatment, teaching, liaison with families, community service providers and school personnel. The role requires that the incumbent work independently as well as within a larger multidisciplinary team.

**Required Qualifications:**  
Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

**Additional Required Qualifications:**  
Registration with the applicable licensing body (CRNA, CRPNA, ACOT, CAP, ACSW) is required. Must have a minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Must have excellent assessment skills. Must have formal clinical training and knowledge in child and adolescent mental health. Formal training in child and adolescent mental health therapeutic interventions such as CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy would be extremely beneficial. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the assessment and treatment of children/adolescents with mental health concerns/diagnoses is required. The successful candidate must have effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well with a range of community stakeholders and service providers.

**Preferred Qualifications:**  
Experience working with Child and Family Services, Health Partnership Initiatives, and Multicultural groups would be an asset.
