Description:

Are you a physician interested in playing a leadership role in preventing workplace injury and disease in British Columbia? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Medical Advisor to join their team in the Medical Services department. In this role, you will work with adjudicative staff, safety officers, and community physicians to assist injured workers in their recovery, rehabilitation, and safe return to work. Your responsibilities will include providing medico-legal opinions and recommendations on workers' medical conditions, causes, and treatments.

Location: Abbotsford, Burnaby, Port Moody, Richmond, Surrey, Kamloops, Kelowna, Nelson, Prince George, Terrace, Victoria, Nanaimo, or Courtenay.

Work Schedule: Flexible Monday to Friday with a full- or part-time schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate medical impairments and disabilities through review of electronic records

Provide evidence-based medical recommendations to adjudicating officers

Collaborate with community physicians for workers' rehabilitation needs

Work in a case-management team environment

Qualifications:

Eligible for full licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia

Minimum of five years of clinical practice experience

Interest in occupational health and safety and disability management

Excellent communication skills

 A minimum of five years of experience in clinical practice including family medicine, sports medicine, or emergency medicine and an an interest in rehabilitation, mental health, or occupational medicine
