Description:

The Perinatal Nurse collaborates with women and families in normal and complex situations, providing antenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, breastfeeding, infant care, and care following perinatal loss. Qualifications include being a Registered Nurse with a Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, current BCLS and NRP certifications, and completion of a recognized Perinatal Certificate Program with a maternal-fetal focus within the past 2 years. Additionally, recent experience in various aspects of perinatal care, such as fetal monitoring, obstetrical risk, newborn care, and health teaching, is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess, analyze, prioritize, plan, and evaluate care in collaboration with women and families

Provide antenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, breastfeeding, infant care, and care following perinatal loss

Demonstrate knowledge, skill, and judgment in various aspects of perinatal care

Educate women and their families on health-related topics during the antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum periods

Care for women pre-operatively and peri-operatively, including roles of scrub and circulating nurse

Qualifications:

Registered Nurse with Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing

Current BCLS and NRP certifications

Completion of a recognized Perinatal Certificate Program with maternal-fetal focus within the past 2 years

Recent experience in various aspects of perinatal care

Knowledge of physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of pregnant women and their families

9. Recent experience in the care and support of antenatal women and their families   
10. Current knowledge of, and recent experience (within the past 2 years) in the care of the newborn during the transitional period   
11. Vascular access and venipuncture
