Description:

Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers. You will collaborate with clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and respond to risk situations, offering support during periods of distress. This role involves working with community mental health resources, providing support to injured workers and their families, and serving as a resource to claims management teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review WorkSafeBC suicide risk reports, investigate, assess, and prepare a Mental Health Service Plan
  • Support vulnerable workers and communicate appellate body claims decisions
  • Share expertise with colleagues and claims management staff to manage mental health issues
  • Communicate WorkSafeBC's mandate regarding suicide risk management
  • Build partnerships with clients, families, and stakeholders
  • Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response
  • Qualifications:

  • Understanding of current mental health issues and programs related to depression, chronic pain, and suicidality
  • Ability to facilitate understanding, resolve conflict, and provide support to clients
  • Experience in preparing and presenting information to diverse audiences
  • Ability to work as part of a team to guide clients towards treatment goals
  • Background and Experience:

  • Master's degree in a related discipline or bachelor's degree in social work
  • Four years of related experience with a master's degree or six years with a bachelor's degree
  • Registration or eligibility to register with a professional college or regulatory body
  • Valid B.C. driver's license
  • Before employment, candidates must meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act and confirm eligibility to work in Canada.
