About us: The Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto is seeking a highly motivated lab tech to join the Human Organ Mimicry Self Driving Lab's team within the Acceleration Consortium. This grant-based term position will focus on supporting research projects related to diverse organoid/organ-on-chip technologies.

Your opportunity: Reporting to the Executive Director, you will play a pivotal role in supporting research projects and collaborating with a team of scientists and engineers. The ideal candidate will have a background in microfluidics, microfabrication, and mammalian cell culture, with expertise in soft lithography, microscopy imaging, and assay development.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating fabrication equipment
  • Preparing materials and setting up equipment
  • Analyzing suitable materials and methods
  • Conducting routine experiments
  • Providing detailed explanations and demonstrating procedures
  • Maintaining inventory and analyzing experimental data
  • Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (Master's Degree preferred)
  • Minimum three years of practical microfabrication experience
  • Proficiency in hot embossing, soft lithography, and 3D printing
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Assets (Nonessential):

  • Publication record of scientific achievement
  • Experience in science translation and communication
  • Familiarity with organoid/organ-on-chip technologies
  • Understanding of coding languages such as R or Python
