Description:

Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers during their recovery and return to work. In this role, you will collaborate with clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and respond to risk situations, offering support to workers and their families in times of psychological distress. You will also work with community mental health resources, provide guidance to claims management teams, and deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review WorkSafeBC suicide risk reports, assess risks, and prepare Mental Health Service Plans
  • Communicate appellate body claims decisions to vulnerable workers
  • Share expertise with colleagues and claims management staff
  • Build partnerships with clients, families, and stakeholders
  • Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response
  • Qualifications:

  • Understanding of mental health issues related to depression, chronic pain, and suicidality
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals
  • Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution
  • Master's degree in a related discipline or bachelor's degree in social work
  • Registration or eligibility to register with a professional college or regulatory body
  • Valid B.C. driver's license
