If you are a Registered Nurse (RN) looking to specialize in acute neuroscience patient care, the University of Alberta Hospital has a unique opportunity for you. The neurosciences units provide specialized care for acute strokes, brain injuries, brain tumors, spinal cord injuries, and other neurological issues. As an acute neuroscience/neurosurgery RN, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide nursing care to patients and families. The role emphasizes teamwork and inter-professional communication, offering advancement opportunities in managing drains, strokes, spinal cord injuries, and other acute neurological issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations
Utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making
Teach, counsel, and advocate for patients and families
Support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care
Provide safe, quality patient and family centered care
Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program
Active or eligible for registration with CRNA
Current BCLS-HCP certification
Recent Neuroscience experience required, 6 months to 1 year
Physical capability to perform all aspects of the role
Basic computer skills
Strong leadership and critical thinking skills
Strong communication and organizational skills
Commitment to patient and family centered care
Maintain collaborative working relationships with patients, families, and team members
Successful completion of Neuroscience Orientation Classes and Exam
