Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers during their recovery and return to work. In this role, you will collaborate with clients, internal staff, and external stakeholders to identify and address risk situations, offering crucial support to workers and their families in times of distress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review suicide risk reports, assess, and develop a Mental Health Service Plan
  • Communicate appellate body claims decisions to vulnerable workers
  • Share expertise with colleagues and claims management staff
  • Deliver presentations on suicide risk identification and response
  • Qualifications:

  • Understanding of mental health issues related to depression, chronic pain, and suicidality
  • Ability to diffuse hostility, resolve conflict, and provide support to clients
  • Experience in crisis intervention and mental health
  • Master's degree in a related discipline or bachelor's degree in social work
  • Registration or eligibility with a professional college or regulatory body
