Status: Permanent Full-Time (37.5 hours per week). Vacancy Type: Existing. Shift: Various shifts between 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday OR Tuesday to Saturday. Discipline: Toxicology. Work Style: Onsite. Location: 245 Pall Mall St, London, Ontario. Internal Posting Deadline: February 2, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure proper labeling and identification of samples

Operate complex instruments and perform non-interpretive testing

Data enter results into the company's database

Perform routine equipment maintenance and disinfect work area

Qualifications:

Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification or Diploma/Degree in Health or Science

Excellent data entry skills and ability to multi-task

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Nice to have: Knowledge of AS400 Data Entry system, experience in Toxicology, MLPAO designation

Working Conditions:

Continuous standing/walking, lifting up to 30 pounds

Exposure to biohazardous substances, chemicals, and noise variances

Shift work required

You will be responsible for the preparation of samples and/or reagents for routine processing. Perform simple noninterpretive tests under the technical oversight of a Senior Clinical Laboratory Assistant or Medical Laboratory Technologist as required. Ensure quality control checks and standards are run as required. Independently perform simple noninterpretive tests escalating to a qualified Medical Laboratory Technologist for support and guidance as required. Ensure quality control checks and standards are run as required. Participate in all quality assurance programs and ensure company and Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines are observed. Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment as appropriate and deal with problems that arise. Your contributions will make a difference and will greatly impact the downstream solutions and treatment critical to saving someone's life.

How YOU Will Make a Difference

Ensure that all samples are properly labeled and identified before testing
 Follow established protocol for the handling of unsuitable samples
 Operate complex instruments following department procedures
 Perform simple noninterpretive testing procedures
 Ensure that all abnormal, critical and STATS are processed as outlined in the department guidelines
 Responsible for the followup on missing samples, documentation and results as and when required
 Ensure all inquiries and problems are handled in a courteous and professional manner
 Ensure adequate amount of supplies are on hand and that validated reagents and testing kits to be used are in date order
 Data enter the results into the company's database as required
 Ensure that quality control checks are performed as required in documented work procedures
 Refer results for Medical Laboratory Technologist to review
 Responsible for monitoring quality control guidelines and making appropriate corrections
 Responsible to follow all relevant pre and/or post analytical quality protocols as described in the company quality assurance manual
 Perform routine equipment maintenance following documented procedures
 Document all maintenance performed, including minor troubleshooting following manufacturer's instructions
 Observe and report all malfunctions in equipment and maintain all required logbooks for routine equipment
 Responsible for disinfecting the work area and equipment on a daily basis
 Store and discard specimens according to appropriate department procedure manuals

Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification required or graduate of an approved laboratory assistant course or Diploma/Degree in Health or Science required
 Excellent data entry skills required
 Ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment
 Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
 Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team centered environment

Nice To Have

Knowledge of AS400 Data Entry system/LIS
 Extensive experience in Toxicology is preferred.
 MLPAO designation
