Description:

New Directions is seeking a Direct Support Worker for their Shift Staffed Homes program, providing person-centered support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and complex health issues. The position involves working as part of a team to provide care, support, and guidance, administering medication, providing transportation, and performing household chores. Training and ongoing learning opportunities are provided to employees.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Working as part of a team providing care, support and guidance to individuals in their homes and in the community

Qualifications:

Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent

Valid Class 5 Driver's License

2 or more years of direct support work experience is considered an asset

First Aid/CPR training considered an asset

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training (NCI) considered an asset

American Sign Language (ASL) is considered an asset

The salary for this part-time position is $17.11 to $23.10 per hour, dependent on education and experience. The anticipated start date is February 13th, 2026. The successful candidate will undergo various checks and must provide a current Driver's Safety Rating. This position is part of the UFCW Local 832 Union Collective Agreement. Shift Staffed Homes (SSH) is one of the many services within Adult Services at New Directions; providing personcentered support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities who may experience complex health issues. SSH strives to promote a sense of belonging and provide opportunities to engage in a meaningful life. This is achieved by creating a home environment that welcomes the participation of adults, supporting their pursuits, interests, goals, and helping maintain and strengthen the bond between the adults and their significant others. We provide an environment that is nonjudgmental, safe and caring. Shift Staffed Homes operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
