Description:

Are you a mental health professional experienced in supporting individuals in psychological distress? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide interventions to injured workers during their recovery and return to work. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, you will identify and respond to risk situations, provide support to injured workers and their families, and work with community mental health resources. This role involves compassionate service to individuals injured at work.

At WorkSafeBC, you will have the opportunity to work in a hybrid model that includes remote work and office-based work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review WorkSafeBC suicide risk reports, investigate, assess, and prepare a Mental Health Service Plan
  • Support vulnerable workers and communicate appellate body claims decisions to them
  • Share experience with colleagues to manage mental health issues effectively
  • Communicate WorkSafeBC's mandate to manage suicide risk supportively
  • Build partnerships with clients at risk of suicide and deliver presentations on suicide risk identification
  • Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate understanding of mental health issues related to depression, chronic pain, and suicidality
  • Facilitate understanding, resolve conflict, and provide support to clients
  • Prepare and present information to individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Work as part of a team to guide clients with physical and mental health conditions
  • Requirements include a master's degree in a related discipline, experience in mental health and crisis intervention, and registration with a professional college or regulatory body. A valid B.C. driver's license is necessary. Successful candidates must meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act and confirm eligibility to work in Canada.
