Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to collect specimens for laboratory testing on inpatients and outpatients. This role involves various tasks such as specimen reception, sorting, labeling, data entry, and specimen preparation. The assistant will work under supervision in the Department of Laboratory Medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
Proper collection of specimens for laboratory testing
Assist Medical Laboratory Technologists in various sections
Perform specimen reception, sorting, labeling, and preparation
Demonstrate proficiency in venous and capillary blood collection for pediatrics and infants
Data entry and order entry in Meditech
Work effectively in a team environment
Qualifications:
Grade 12 education or recognized equivalent
OSMT or CSMLS Certification as a Medical Laboratory Assistant
Recent experience in Core Laboratory
Experience in receiving and handling Laboratory Specimens
