Description:

The Health Care Aide (HCA) position involves providing patient care services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This role includes direct care for clients in their homes, assisting with personal care, activities of daily living, emotional support, respite care, and health care duties as outlined in the care plan. Housekeeping services are also provided to maintain the client's living space. This position is located approximately 45 km SW outside of Calgary City Limits.

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to provide personal assistance and support services to patients in accordance with care plans and facility policies. Duties include assisting with hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, safety needs, and observing and reporting on patients' well-being. You will maintain a safe environment, communicate effectively with patients, families, and health professionals, and assist with organized activities.

**Key Responsibilities:**

**Qualifications:**

Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory

Certified as a Health Care Aide through a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution

Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification

Effective verbal and written English skills

Well-developed time management and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to work as a member of a team and handle heavy equipment or individuals

**Preferred Qualifications:**

Minimum 1 year experience with computers and operational programs

Medication Assistance Certificate or prior experience in Medication Assistance

Recent experience in the health care field working with older or chronically ill individuals in a community-based setting
