Vermilion Home Care is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Aide to join our Continuing Care team in Vermilion, Alberta. HCAs play a vital role in supporting clients to live safely and comfortably in their homes, promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life. As an integral member of an interdisciplinary team, you will provide person-centered care while upholding AHS values of compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and safety. The Health Care Aide provides direct client care and support in accordance with ALA policies, professional standards, and the Health Care Aide Competency Profile. Responsibilities include: Assisting clients with personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting). Supporting mobility, transfers, and positioning. Observing and reporting changes in client condition to the supervising nurse. Assisting with meal preparation, feeding, and hydration. Supporting clients with activities of daily living to maintain independence. Documenting care using approved charting practices and digital systems. Maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment.
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team providing personal assistance including supporting activities of daily living and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this position you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities assisting nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs, assisting with organized activities or programs and observing and reporting on a patient's mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under a regulated health professional you will be assisting in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors, and maintaining effective communication with patients and health professionals.
