Join the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority team in providing a range of health care services to the community. The Public Health Nurse (PHN) role focuses on promoting, protecting, and preserving the health of populations through various strategies. PHNs work collaboratively within the Population Public Health team and across communities to address determinants of health and promote equitable health outcomes.

Under the direction of the Manager, Health Services, PHNs work respectfully with diverse populations and support self-determination. They promote empowerment, community engagement, and a population health approach rooted in primary health care principles. PHNs may work in various locations within the Population Public Health Program site.

Experience

Two years of recent, relevant experience in public health, primary care, health promotion, or community development is required.

Relevant experience includes applying health promotion principles, primary prevention, and community development in various settings.

Education

Baccalaureate Nursing degree is required.

Completion of a Public Health Agency of Canada's Skills Enhancement for Public Health Program content module certificate is preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

Current College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Registration (CRNM) required.

Possession of a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver's license required.

Qualifications and Skills

Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role and work independently.

Excellent interpersonal skills and proficiency in computer software applications.

Physical Requirements

Physically capable of carrying out clinical skills and providing services in various community settings.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Baccalaureate Nursing degree is required.
 In addition, at least one of the following is preferred:

Successful completion of a Public Health Agency of Canada's Skills Enhancement for Public Health Program content module certificate.
 Canadian Community Health Nurses certificationCCHN(C).
 Successful completion of a related course at a master level (e.g., epidemiology, community development, community nursing).

Certification/Licensure/Registration

Current College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Registration (CRNM) required.
 Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
 Possession of a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver's license required.
