Description:

Comox Valley Hospital is seeking a Staff Nurse to provide professional nursing care to clients as a member of a multidisciplinary team. The nurse will coordinate and administer direct client care, provide direction to auxiliary personnel, and respond to emergency situations to safeguard clients, visitors, and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.

General duty staff nurse positions require Basic Life Support, Level C, post-basic education for clinical areas, and up to one year of recent related experience.

Specialty unit nurse positions require specialty certification for the unit and up to two years of recent related experience.

Critical Care, Emergency, and Intensive Care nurse positions require Advanced Cardiac Life Support and specialty certification, along with up to two years of recent related experience.

Skills And Abilities:

Ability to apply the nursing process effectively in a well-organized manner.

Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to remain calm and act appropriately in stressful and emergency situations.

This is a permanent part-time RN position covering shifts in both ICU and Telemetry. Critical Care Certification or equivalent education and experience is required. The successful candidate must also pass the Island Health Basic Arrhythmia Challenge exam with a grade of 75% or greater.
