Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops and maintains a comprehensive Environmental Health & Safety system

Leads safety teams and programs to improve safety in the plant

Monitors safety metrics and ensures completion of corrective actions

Conducts safety and environmental audits and investigations

Coordinates safety issues and performs safety equipment inspections

Ensures compliance with safety standards and regulations

Manages environmental sustainability data and compliance inspections

Acts as a regulatory liaison and promotes employee well-being

Skills and Abilities:

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

PC operational skills and ability to train others

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety preferred

1-3 years' hands-on Environmental and Health & Safety experience preferred

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required

Salary: $115,000 - $125,000 per year

The job of Environment Health &amp; Safety Manager is a vital position within MCC Operations. It is an essential part of the operation and requires the employee to take the lead with employee safety engagement activities and improvements. The EHS Manager is responsible for the reporting and monitoring of all safety metrics and managing all Safety systems and standard procedures. The EHS Manager is required to lead environmental sustainability tasks and ensure compliance against corporate objectives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops and maintains a comprehensive Environmental Health &amp; Safety system
 Uses knowledge of plant operations, specific safety issues, regulations and corporate practices to implement improvements to safety in the plant
 Leads and participates in safety teams and programs as established within the plant to ensure effectiveness of the systems
 Acts as a resource and ensures employees' ability to work safely and provides leadership during emergencies and special projects
 Monitors, follows up and ensures completion of corrective actions for entries into the Incident Reporting System
 Maintains existing safety programs, systems, processes and documentation
 Conducts safety and environmental audits and trend analysis
 conducts incidents and near miss investigations with the assistance of the Leadership Team
 Provides safety training facilitation &amp;/or method/procedure adherence
 Coordinates and communicates safety issues with any plant personnel and can perform safety equipment inspections and initiates repair processes as needed
 Proficient knowledge of all Ontario and Canadian safety standards and regulations and ensures they are being met and followed
 Conducts environmental permit inspections to assist in maintaining all permit compliance
 Demonstrates knowledge of and serves as the MCC lead for environmental sustainability data
 Manages the MCC Environmental process and ensures all compliance inspections are performed on time
 Ensures environmental standards and regulations are being met and followed
 Acts as management and a regulatory liaison
 Promotes the wellbeing of an injuryfree life for all employees
 Complies with all plant rules and safety regulations and maintains a clean and orderly work area
 Performs all other duties related to this position as assigned or needed

Skills and Abilities:

Must be able to read, write, and speak English
 Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
 Must possess strong communication and organizational skills
 Must have the ability to multitask and must have a critical eye for inspections
 Must work well in team environment
 Must be able to work independently
 Must possess PC operational skills
 Must possess presentation skills and ability to train others
 Ability to travel 510%
 Must maintain a high level of ethical standards: Can be trusted to do only the "right thing" for the employees, shareholders, and others. Follows a balanced approach without compromising integrity.

Education and/or Experience:

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety; Environmental Science/Engineering or similar degree
 Preferred: 13 years' handson Environmental and Health &amp; Safety experience in a manufacturing environment
 Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required
 Related experience and/or training in an industrial environment

Salary:$115,000  $125,000 per year

Reports to: Operations Director
