Currently hiring for a Personal Support Worker position, the role involves providing personal support and homemaking services to clients and families within VON policies. The PSW collaborates with the health care team to ensure clients reach an optimal level of independence and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Observes and evaluates the client's or family's home and care plan
Contributes to developing the care plan
Implements changes to the care plan for safety and financial reasons
Reports changes in client's needs to supervisor
Performs personal support tasks
Provides personal care as directed
Provides respite care and supports client families
Completes daily call checks and other forms
Assesses client's communication and ability to relate
Communicates with health team regarding client's needs
Functions in compliance with health and safety regulations
Functions in accordance with VON's risk management policies
Other duties as assigned

Engages with supervisors on client plans
Education, Designations, and Experience:
High school diploma
CCA Certification required in Nova Scotia
Certificate in Home Support Worker, Personal Support Worker, or Health Care Aide
Current First Aid or CPR certification
Post Secondary degree or diploma an asset
Household management experience and experience with elderly or ill individuals or children
Skill Requirements:
Strong communication skills
Good assessment skills
Awareness of community resources
Ability to work in a team or independently
Ability to take direction well
Capacity to adhere to strict confidentiality
Other:
Access to personal vehicle and driver's license
Criminal Records Check required
Available to work flexible hours
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment
