The Emergency Department at the South Health Campus is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their interdisciplinary team. The LPN will be responsible for providing care to patients of varying acuity under the guidance of the Unit Manager. Strong interpersonal, communication, prioritization, and assessment skills are essential for success in this dynamic and fast-paced environment. The LPN will be held accountable for their practice and must ensure compliance with legislative requirements and practice standards set by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
Key Responsibilities:
Utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Provide safe, high-quality, patient and family-centered care
Adhere to applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures
Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program
Active registration and practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with CLPNA
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
Minimum one year of acute care nursing experience within the past 2 years
Preferred experience in emergency or urgent care setting
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Professional interpersonal and communication skills
Effective time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
Understanding of Patient + Family Centered Care philosophy
