The University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Emergency department, a busy tertiary care level I emergency department open 24/7. This role involves providing nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, ensuring their safety and well-being. Nurses will work in a state-of-the-art facility, utilizing an electronic tracking system, and making decisions in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment. The position requires working in all areas of Emergency as needed.

Registered Nurses in this role will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. The focus is on providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Provisional Permit holders will receive a specific rate of pay until obtaining a full license.

Key Responsibilities:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program

Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification

2 years of med/surg/acute care RN experience

Current Basic Life Support (BLS - Heart and Stroke AED Level C REQUIRED) - Healthcare Provider Registration

Preferred Qualifications:

1 year of Emergency RN experience

Recent nursing experience in a tertiary/urban center

Recent critical care experience in the last 2 years

ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, NRP certifications preferred

Certified Emergency Nurse (CAN or CNE) an asset
