This job posting is for a Health Care Aide position within the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. The role involves providing care to individuals with physical or cognitive impairments in various settings, including clients' homes, health care centers, and hospitals. The Health Care Aide will assist patients/residents/clients with activities of daily living to support independence while delivering comprehensive care and treatment.

Under the general supervision of the Manager or designate, the Health Care Aide will provide direct client/patient/resident care, following established standards of care, policies, and procedures. The role involves meeting the special and changing needs of clients/patients/residents and helping them achieve and maintain optimal health and independence within their abilities.

Main Function:

  • Experience providing care to individuals with physical or cognitive impairments is preferred.
  • Education:

  • Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide course required.
  • Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ability to provide safe, effective personal care with consideration for individual needs.
  • Effective communication skills with clients, families, and co-workers.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • General skills and ability to perform relevant tasks.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic charting systems.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and values preferred.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write French may be required.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Training may be required.
  • Physical Requirements:

  • May encounter aggressive individuals or exposure to various hazards.
  • Position involves physical activities like standing, transferring patients, and lifting equipment.
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, and travel between client's homes.
  • This position requires a Criminal Records Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check. Candidates should not hold multiple positions across the WRHA legal
