This job posting is for a part-time Public Health Nurse (PHN) position with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. The PHN will work in the WRHA Community Health Services in Point Douglas/Downtown. The role involves applying public health science and nursing theory to promote, protect, and preserve the health of populations across the lifespan. The PHN will address various health issues, including chronic and communicable diseases, environmental concerns, reproductive and sexual health, and perinatal health.

The PHN will work collaboratively within the Population Public Health team and with colleagues in other programs and sectors. They will support self-determination and empowerment, engage with diverse populations, and promote community involvement. The position requires working in various locations within the Population Public Health Program site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Two years of recent, relevant experience in public health, primary care, health promotion, or community development is required
  • Baccalaureate Nursing degree is required, with additional certifications preferred
  • Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba is required
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Physical capability to carry out clinical skills and work in various community settings
  • Qualifications and Skills:

  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and competency in conflict management, teaching, and counseling
  • Proficiency in computer software applications and excellent English oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and facilitate groups
  • Physical Requirements:

  • Physically capable of carrying out clinical skills and providing services in various community settings
  • Access to a reliable motor vehicle during working hours
  • Subject to immunizations and testing as per WRHA Policy
