The Health Care Aide (HCA) in F5 at Hamilton Health Sciences supports nurses and the healthcare team in providing safe, compassionate, and efficient care to patients with acute medical conditions. Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, supporting mobility, maintaining patient hygiene and comfort, and assisting with admissions, discharges, and transfers. The HCA must respond quickly to changing patient needs, follow infection control protocols, and communicate effectively with patients and staff.
Qualifications
Personal Support Worker or Health Care Aide Certificate
Nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses at McMaster University
Nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses in McMaster University and Mohawk College collaborative program
Nursing student with successful completion of all level 1 courses in the Mohawk College Diploma program
Computer familiarity or willingness to learn computer skills
Effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, teamwork skills
Initiative and judgment appropriate for the position
Ability to accept assigned or delegated functions
Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly
Ability to work collaboratively with various hospital departments
Ability to lift using appropriate techniques and use good body mechanics for bending, pushing, and pulling
