Description:

McElhanney, a company based in Western Canada for over 110 years, is seeking (2) chemistry lab technicians to join their analytical team. This full-time, permanent position involves working on a 2-week on / 2-week off shift rotation at project sites North of Terrace, BC. The role requires operating in a safety-sensitive environment and completing pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

What You'll Do:

Supporting daily operations by performing basic laboratory procedures

Preparing samples and reagents for various test procedures

Working collaboratively to meet quality assurance specifications

Assisting technical leads and performing other duties as required

What You'll Bring (Must Have):

Post-secondary education in a relevant field

Minimum of 1-year laboratory experience

Intermediate computer skills

Fluency in English

Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Ability to lift 25+ pounds and work in various environmental conditions

Willingness to work in remote locations

Possession of a valid driver's license

The Opportunity McElhanney has a new opportunity for (2) chemistry lab technicians to join our growing analytical team focused on providing rapid onsite acid rock drainage (ARD) preliminary screening results. The successful candidates will operate on a 2week on / 2week off shift rotation working on project sites located North of Terrace, BC. This flyin / flyout (FIFO) position will not require you to relocate from your current location. This is a fulltime, permanent position offering approximately 2 years of committed work with the opportunity to extend. This position will work closely with our onsite Shift Supervisors and offsite Geochemical Team Leaders to deliver construction related environmental quality control and quality assurance services.

This role is designated as a safetysensitive position and completion of a preemployment drug &amp; alcohol and fitness for work testing is required.

What You'll Do

Supporting the daily operations of the onsite analytical team by performing basic laboratory procedures following established standard operating procedures.
 Preparing samples and reagents for various inhouse test procedures (e.g. Leco Carbon Sulfur analysis, ICPOES sample prep), pH measurements, electrical conductivity measurements, basic instrument calibration and maintenance.
 Working collaboratively within the larger team to help meet quality assurance and turn around specifications for our clients and consultants.
 Assisting technical leads, shift supervisors and performing other duties as required.

What You'll Bring (Must Have):

Postsecondary education with a Technical Diploma or Degree required in relevant field (e.g. chemistry technician/technologist, chemistry, related physical sciences, etc.).
 Minimum of 1year previous laboratory experience with knowledge of standard ARD/ML testing procedures and equipment.
 Intermediate computer skills.
 Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
 Ability to handle multiple tasks within a fastpaced work environment and a strong desire to learn.
 Ability to work independently and in a team environment with a mature work ethic.
 Problem solving, communication, organization, and time management.
 Ability to lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis and perform work in various environmental conditions.
 Willing to work in remote locations.
 Possession of a valid driver's license is required at the time of hire.

What You'll Bring (Nice to Have):

Preference will be given to those with a BC Assayer Certification
 Chemistry degree or previous background in chemistry related field of study.

What Can We Offer You? The wage range for this position is $35$40 per hour. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual's education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

Ability to bank overtime at 1.5 x hourly rate.
 $50 / day camp bonus while onsite
 Participation in our generous Performance Bonus Plan
