FortisBC, the province's largest energy provider, is seeking a CP&C Technologist Apprentice to join their team. This full-time position offers a salary of $44.45 hourly and is affiliated with IBEW. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of a Journeyman Electrician and be responsible for installation, maintenance, and repairs on telecommunication, electrical apparatus, and equipment to ensure safe power system operation.
As part of a diverse team of over 2,800 employees, the CP&C Technologist Apprentice will enroll in a four-year electrician apprenticeship program and conduct tests on electrical equipment, cables, metering, and protective relaying facilities. They will also install communication and protective schemes, troubleshoot relaying schemes, provide technical expertise, and offer training to other employees.
Requirements for this position include a diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Technology and a Class 5 Driver's License. Standby/on-call, residency, overtime, and out of town work requirements are also part of the role.
