As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work under the supervision of a licensed health care professional to provide direct care to clients in their homes and lodge settings. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide personal assistance to patients in accordance with care plans and facility policies. Until proof of HCA certification is provided, new hires will be paid at the uncertified pay grade. The position is classified under Assisted Living Alberta and falls under the AUPE AUX union. The primary location is the Airdrie Health Centre, with varying shifts and days off.

Active or eligible for registration with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta as a Health Care Aide, along with proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.

Graduate of an educational program following the Provincial Curriculum for Health Care Aides or meeting the criteria outlined in the Substantially Equivalent Competency Guidelines. Must have Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider certification and strong communication skills.

Preferred qualifications include previous community or home care experience, medication assistance experience, proficiency with technology, and previous work with older adults or chronically ill individuals.

Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals. Required Qualifications:

Previous experience in the health care field and working with older adults or chronically ill individuals is preferred. Welldeveloped time management and organizational skills.
