The role involves working independently or as part of a clinical team to support equipment specific to Diagnostic Imaging, including x-ray, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, MRI, and CT devices.

Key Responsibilities include:

Qualifications:

Completion of a two-year diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology

Relevant 4-6 years' experience in medical equipment/technology support preferred

As a team member of Diagnostic Imaging, the Biomedical Technologist II is responsible for the management of technology including technical support of highly complex medical equipment and clinical systems. The technologist requires a comprehensive knowledge of clinical practices, procedures, and equipment types, and must be well versed in details of anatomy and physiology. The technologist, working independently or as part of the clinical team, is responsible for performing assurance testing and support of complex medical devices, ensuring compliance to CSA, manufactures and accreditation specifications and standards. Responsibilities also include prioritization, scheduling and managing of assigned workload. This position is focused on supporting all equipment specific to Diagnostic Imaging, including xray, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, MRI, CT, and other devices. The position is based at the Foothills Medical Centre but is responsible for servicing Diagnostic Imaging devices at sites within the Calgary Zone and other zones as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a two year diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from an accredited Institute of Technology.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Healthcare IT knowledge such as networking (including various protocols and associated hardware), application interfaces, antivirus/encryption, and experience with computerized maintenance management software and medical diagnostic software. Demonstrate technical skills and mechanical aptitude. Demonstrate good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills, proven organization skills. Must be reliable, alert, accurate, capable of working independently and possess good judgment and initiative. Travel outside the city or country will be required for equipment support training. Travel within Alberta will be required. Must have a valid passport.

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant 46 years' experience in medical equipment/technology support (Diagnostic Imaging preferred) coupled with several courses in diagnostic imaging equipment service.
