Description:
The Clinical Informatics Specialist is responsible for planning, designing, developing, training, implementing, evaluating, and supporting clinical information systems initiatives. This role involves collaborating with clinicians, IT professionals, and healthcare administrators to optimize the health information system, clinical data management platforms, and decision-support tools.
Required
Education:
Completion of a post-secondary program in the health sciences field (required).
Preference for formal education in clinical informatics.
Experience:
2 years of experience in clinical informatics or healthcare IT roles.
Hands-on experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, clinical data systems, or other healthcare technologies.
Recent teaching or coaching experience.
Experience in a healthcare setting.
Skills:
Strong understanding of healthcare workflows and clinical processes.
Proficiency in Cerner EHR systems and Microsoft Office.
Ability to analyze data and generate reports to drive decision-making.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Experience with data analytics, project management software, and database management is preferred.
Duties
Clinical Data Analysis and Optimization:
Analyze clinical workflows and data to identify opportunities for improvement in patient care and operational efficiency.
Utilize data from Lumeo and other clinical systems to monitor performance metrics and assist in evidence-based decision-making.
Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.
Promotes quality assurance in meaningful data collection through the EMR
System Implementation & Integration:
Lead the implementation and integration of Lumeo within clinical settings.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful technology adoption.
Provide technical expertise in system design, optimization, and customization to fit clinical needs.
Clinical Training and Support:
Develop and deliver training programs for clinical staff on the use of Lumeo and related technologies.
Provide ongoing support to clinicians and leadership to ensure effective use of Lumeo.
Serve as a liaison between IT departments and clinical staff to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Change Management:
Incorporates adult learning principles, organizational development, and change management sciences in educational programs.
Clinical Workflow Analysis:
Evaluate existing clinical workflows and recommend opportunities for system optimization.
Provide support in the redesign of clinical processes to optimize technology use.
Research and Continuous Improvement:
Stay current with emerging trends in healthcare informatics.
Contribute to the development of best practices in clinical informatics.
Monitor the effectiveness of implemented solutions and suggest improvements.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with healthcare professionals to understand clinical needs.
Communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff.
Provides support in the development of organizational policies and procedures.
