The Palliative Care Consult Service - Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) - Urban team seeks a skilled individual to provide advanced nursing practice in meeting complex palliative health care needs. The CNS functions as a consultant, leader, educator, and expert practitioner, contributing to quality improvement and research initiatives. Responsibilities include Clinical Practice and Consultation, Education, Program Planning, and Change Leadership. The CNS collaborates with colleagues across various service sites to advance palliative care activities in the Calgary urban area.

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), you will provide advanced nursing practice, balancing roles as a leader, consultant, educator, and researcher. You will collaborate on the provision of holistic care, playing a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care. The position is located at South Calgary Health Centre with a focus on the Palliative Care Consult Service.

  • Master's degree in Nursing
  • Active or eligible for registration with CRNA
  • Current BCLS-HCP certification
  • Master's Degree (MN with palliative specialization)
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience in palliative care
  • Experience in a palliative nurse consultant role
  • 5-7 years of acute care clinical experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Effective communication skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Experience in home and community-based services
  • CNA - Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Nursing certification
  • Completion of relevant training programs
