Description:

Taproot Community Support Services is seeking a Community Support Worker for their new Community Based Community Inclusion program, Bloom, in Surrey, BC. This role involves providing specialized support to individuals with developmental disabilities, FAS/FAE, and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. The position is full-time, with two permanent positions available.

In Your Role You Will

  • Initiate contact with referred individuals and assist with intake procedures
  • Make referrals to other programs and community resources
  • Assist individuals in setting goals and accessing community resources
  • Develop crisis management strategies and service plans
  • Help individuals access volunteer placements or employment
  • Advocate for individuals and assist with self-advocacy
  • Review progress and make reports on daily activities
  • Liaise with other agencies and professionals
  • Develop Personalized Service Plans
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties
  • The Position

    The Community Support Worker provides specialized supports for individuals with developmental disabilities in an accredited agency. The role focuses on community inclusion, skill development, and employment skills within the new Surrey-based program.

    Mandatory Pre-Employment Screenings and Checks

    As An Ideal Candidate You Possess

  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in humanities or related field
  • Minimum one year of experience working with developmental disabilities
  • Valid CPR/First Aid certificate
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
  • Consistent access to computer/printer/scanner/copier
  • Cellular phone with data plan
