Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Corridor is seeking a Deputy Corridor Clinical Department Lead (DCCDL) for the Hospital Medicine Program in Child Health. This 0.10 FTE position reports to the Corridor Clinical Department Lead and is responsible for ensuring standards of care, supporting research and teaching, and building capacity in pediatric hospital medicine.

Key Responsibilities include:

Assisting with building capacity in pediatric hospital medicine

Developing capacity in pediatric hospital medicine, focusing on non-teaching services

Addressing client concerns about medical/clinical care quality

Developing orientation, review, and exit processes for physicians

Implementing effective medical management structure and quality initiatives

Handling physician performance/discipline issues

Providing clinical leadership, support, and coaching to staff

Qualifications:

Strong communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills

Passion for quality and patient safety

Inclusive and visionary leadership

Significant medical leadership experience

Registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada

Eligible to work in Canada and licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta

Evidence of formal administrative education and training

Development of orientation, periodic review, and exit processes for physicians for the Hospital medicine program (Child Health).

Development, implementation and review of effective medical management structure, and quality and utilization initiatives for the clinical area.

Dealing with physician performance/discipline issues.

Providing clinical leadership, support and coaching to the Hospital medicine program (Child Health) staff, including developing objectives collaboratively with each physician.

The position has an expected term of 1 year.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong abilities in communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation, along with a passion for quality and patient safety while working as part of a leadership team. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant medical leadership experience and will be regarded by their peers as a strong clinician.

Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
