Description:

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Director of Regulatory Medical Writing (RegMW) for their Innovative Medicine division. This role involves leading a team of medical writers to develop various documents across therapeutic areas. The Director will be responsible for driving strategic discussions, overseeing projects, identifying risks, and implementing process improvements to ensure adherence to best practices and regulatory guidelines.

The Director will also lead program-level, submission, indication, and disease area writing teams, serve as a liaison between team members and senior leadership, and mentor staff on document planning, processes, and content. Additionally, the Director will participate in industry standards working groups, represent the Medical Writing department, and set the strategy and operational execution for their portfolio within the Medical Writing team.

Qualifications for this role include a university/college degree in a scientific discipline, a minimum of 14 years of relevant pharmaceutical/scientific experience, and expertise in project management and process improvement. Strong decision-making skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to lead and influence are also required.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assuming overall accountability for decision-making within the organization or TA.
  • Proactively identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Writing or providing guidance on clinical, regulatory, and safety documents.
  • Directly leading or setting objectives for team projects and tasks.
  • Developing, implementing, and driving departmental process improvements.
  • Mentoring, supporting, and coaching staff at all levels.
  • Participating in industry standards working groups.
  • Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A university/college degree in a scientific discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 14 years of relevant pharmaceutical/scientific experience is required.
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant clinical/medical writing experience is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of people management experience is required.
  • Experience providing strategic and operational leadership to medical writing teams.
  • Expertise in project management and process improvement is required.
  • Strong decision-making skills, strategic thinking, agility, broad vision is required.
  • The expected pay range for this position is $131,000 to $225,400. The compensation and benefits information applies to candidates hired in Canada. Candidates hired outside Canada will receive compensation and benefits according to their local market.
