The Electronics Technologist position in the Faculty of Engineering - Civil and Environmental Engineering Department involves providing technical support for research and teaching activities. The primary purpose of the role is to assist in the planning, implementation, and management of data acquisition systems and servo hydraulic controllers. The Electronics Technologist is responsible for electronic design, programming application software, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electronic testing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist graduate students with research and laboratory equipment
  • Develop and demonstrate operation of PID servo-hydraulic digital controllers
  • Program automation software and hardware
  • Provide instruction and resources for test measurements
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot electronic equipment
  • Supervise and assist undergraduate students in lab activities
  • Maintain safety standards and manage lab spaces
  • Operate forklift and overhead cranes as required
  • Provide technical assistance in all Civil and Environmental Engineering labs
  • Required Qualifications:

  • 3-year Technologist diploma in Electronics Technology or equivalent
  • Several years of experience in research or academic setting
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and data collection systems
  • Strong computer skills and ability to manage priorities
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Valid G Driver's License required
  • First Aid Certification is an asset
