The Health Care Aide (HCA) provides patient care services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This position is located approximately 135 km SW outside of Calgary City Limits or approximately 80 km SW outside of Lethbridge City Limits.

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to provide personal assistance and support services to patients in accordance with care plans and facility policies. You will assist nurses in meeting patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs, as well as observe and report on patients' well-being. This role involves maintaining a safe environment for patients and effective communication with patients and health professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living

Offer emotional support and respite care to relieve family caregivers

Perform health care duties as authorized on the client's care plan

Provide housekeeping services essential to the client's activities of daily living

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory

Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification

Effective verbal and written English skills

Ability to work as a member of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year experience with computers and operational programs

Medication Assistance Certificate or prior experience in Medication Assistance

Recent experience in the health care field working with older or chronically ill individuals in a community-based setting

Additional Required Qualifications:Certified  certified as a Health Care Aide through a Government of Alberta licensed postsecondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum; or Substantially Equivalent  an educational background deemed equivalent as compared to the approved Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum; or deemed Competent  assessed as competent by an Alberta regulated nurse, using the Provincial Competency Assessment Profile Tool. The candidate must have Basic Cardiac Life Support  Health Care Provider (BCLSHCP) from Heart and Stroke Foundation within the last 12 months. In addition, the candidate must be effective in verbal and written English, have well developed time management skills, demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills with patients/clients, families, visitors and team members.
