Alberta Health Services (AHS) is offering a training program for individuals interested in becoming a certified Health Care Aide (HCA) at Two Hills Health Center, Long Term Care. This program provides support, training, and mentorship from a professional team of nurses and covers the costs of tuition and training. Successful candidates will commit to working in this position for 24 months upon hire. HCAs assist with routine care to patients and families in various settings and play a crucial role in the healthcare team.

As an HCA, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers to provide personal assistance, support activities of daily living, and assist with organized activities or programs. You will observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing, while maintaining a safe environment for all. Strong communication and organization skills are essential for success in this role.

Required qualifications include completing a Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Nursing students enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program may also be considered. Preferred qualifications are as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal assistance and support services to patients in accordance with care plans
  • Assist nurses with routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and safety needs
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Qualifications:

  • Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire

  • Confirmation letter of enrolment from the Directory
  • Nursing students enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program may be considered
  • Proof of qualification and compliance
