Description:
The Health Care Aide (HCA) is responsible for providing direct personal care and health support services to clients of all ages, following their scope of practice, regulatory standards, and government legislation. They work under the supervision of the nursing team, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to deliver care in accordance with documented plans. HCAs assist with daily living activities, monitor health changes, and support the overall well-being of clients. They play a crucial role in promoting comfort, dignity, and continuity of care, while actively engaging in continuous improvement and demonstrating professionalism and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
Must be registered with and hold a valid practice permit from College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) prior to commencing employment.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of the Health Care Aide program or recognized equivalent required.
Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
Ability to maintain own educational requirements with the assistance of the education department and manager.
Demonstrated patient care focused attitude in your day-to-day work.
Ability to work independently and function as a team member.
Ability to be self-directed, have good organizational and time management skills.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced and, at times, highly stressful environment.
Annual Influenza Immunization and FIT testing are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Successful completion of a recognized mental health certificate program or one full-time year (2022.75 hours) of working with psychiatry or dementia patients/residents within an acute care or continuing care setting.
Recent patient care experience in a Geriatric Psychiatry setting preferred.
Experience with Connect Care preferred.
