Under the leadership of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, or Registered Psychiatric Nurses, the Health Care Aide (HCA) supports residents/patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as per care plans. The HCA works within their scope of practice, engages in ongoing education, and provides person-centered care following established standards.

Experience

One to two (1-2) years' experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

One to two (1-2) years' experience caring for elderly or disabled clients preferred.

Education

Minimum Grade 12.

Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized program.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Acute Care).

Qualifications and Skills

Knowledge of confidentiality/privacy requirements.

Demonstrated ability to organize workload and work as a team member.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work in stressful environments.

Respect for cultural diversity.

Proficiency in both official languages for bilingual positions.
