Description:

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a Social Worker for the MHA WZ Opiate Treatment Program SS at Fishermen's Memorial Hospital in the Western Zone. The successful candidate will be responsible for clinical assessment, planning, and implementation of prevention and early intervention programs for adolescents at risk for substance use and mental health issues. The role involves working with a team to provide a range of services in schools and communities.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work
  • Registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work
  • Two years' related clinical experience
  • Knowledge of community resources and programs
  • Proficiency in screening and risk assessment skills
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships within healthcare and the community
  • Sound knowledge of harm reduction strategies and stages of change theory
  • Experience with brief intervention strategies and motivational interviewing
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and social determinants of health
  • Cultural sensitivity and competency
  • Experience with recovery-oriented practice and patient-centered care
  • Autonomy in care planning and collaboration with care teams
  • Experience with brief intervention strategies focused on harm reduction and recovery
  • Working knowledge of the DSM and screening tools
  • Travel required with access to reliable transportation
  • Hours:

    Permanent, full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly

    Compensation and Benefits:

    Healthcare Social Worker B: $36.58 - $47.35 Hourly

    Healthcare Social Worker A (Developmental): $34.80 - $43.30 hourly
