Located in Central Zone, Nova Scotia Hospital, the MHA CZ Rehab Social Work department is seeking a full-time Health Care Social Worker. Nova Scotia Health is the largest health services provider in the region, offering a wide range of specialized services to clients in Atlantic Canada. The successful candidate will be part of a passionate team providing high-quality inpatient and outpatient services, including mental health and addictions care.

About the Opportunity:
The Health Care Social Worker will work at Simpson Landing, part of Recovery and Integration (R & I), Nova Scotia Health, Mental Health & Addictions. This role involves providing collaborative, holistic care on the primary to quaternary care continuum, focusing on psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers, and 2 years of post-graduate clinical experience.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
  • 2 years post-graduate related clinical experience required
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)
  • Previous experience working with clients with MHA's concerns preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various treatment theories and practice of harmful involvement, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and stages of change
  • Ability to complete biopsychosocial assessments
  • Awareness of local community resources and agencies would be considered an asset
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Hours:
    Permanent, Full-Time / 75 Hours Bi-Weekly

    Compensation and Benefits:
    $36.57 - $48.53 Hourly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a benefits package including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
