Nova Scotia Health is seeking a Health Care Social Worker to join their team at the Abbie J. Lane Memorial Building. As the largest provider of health services in Nova Scotia, we are dedicated to achieving excellence in health, healing, and learning through collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers, and at least 2 years of post-graduate clinical experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with interdisciplinary health care team to provide holistic care

Conduct biopsychosocial assessments

Facilitate group sessions

Utilize client-/family-centered approach

Demonstrate knowledge of various treatment theories and practices

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Social Work

Current registration with Nova Scotia College of Social Workers

2 years post-graduate clinical experience

Knowledge of DSM and experience with MHA's concerns

Ability to work collaboratively with community partners

Hours:

Permanent, Full-time; 75 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits:

$36.58 - $47.35 HourlyDevelopmental - $34.80 - $43.30 Hourly

Social Workers are primarily concerned with the relationships between people and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. The social determinants of health are embedded in social work theory and practice and are the focus for the dynamic and interactive process of engagement, assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Social Workers build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem solving skills, past successes, and personal resources.About You We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university
 Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
 2 years post graduate related clinical experience required
 Knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic &amp; Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)
 Previous experience working with clients with MHA's concerns preferred
 Demonstrated knowledge of various treatment theories and practice of harmful involvement, harm reduction, motivational interviewing and stages of change
 Knowledge of the field of addiction and addiction related programming and treatment
 Demonstrated ability to use a client/familycentered approach
 Demonstrated experience with group facilitation
 Ability to complete biopsychosocial assessments
 Awareness of local community resources and agencies would be considered an asset
 Demonstrated comfort and skills working collaboratively with community partners
 Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
