Description:

UBC is seeking to hire a Laboratory Assistant to join the Dr. Christopher Loewen Laboratory in the Department of Cellular and Physiological Sciences. The successful candidate will report directly to Dr. Loewen and will be responsible for various laboratory tasks and support activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cleans and sterilizes glassware.
  • Performs laboratory clean up tasks.
  • Assists in stocking supplies and updating inventory.
  • Assists in routine sorting of samples.
  • Prepares media and other simple preparation tasks.
  • Assist senior laboratory members and PI with simple research support activities as needed.
  • Attend regular lab meetings.
  • Carries out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.
  • Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one's own.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
