The Stollery Children's hospital provides specialized surgical services to patients and their families from central and northern Alberta, as well as across western Canada. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will report to the Unit Manager and be an integral member of the Stollery's multidisciplinary team. The LPN will provide direct care and support to pediatric patients, their families, and caregivers while recognizing the values of, and working within a Family Centered Care and Child Kind philosophy.
Key Responsibilities:
Utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills as part of an interprofessional health care team.
Provide safe, high quality, patient and family-centered care in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Minimum of 2 years' experience in pediatric in-patient surgery and trauma or medicine (within last 5 years).
Strong organizational and assessment skills with the ability to communicate findings effectively.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment.
Proven reliability, dependability, and ability to work with patients of varying mobility.
Successful completion of the Stollery Medication Administration Exam with 90% and the PEARS course.
