Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a Mechanical Technician/Technologist to join their team at the Niagara Falls location. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, overhauling, and maintaining mechanical components associated with Hydro Electric Generating Stations and facilities. This is a full-time position with a rotating shift schedule and some travel required.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, commission, inspect, troubleshoot, service, maintain, and overhaul mechanical equipment and components.
Disassemble and reassemble mechanical equipment, including the use of torquing equipment.
Operate precision machines, test equipment, and specialized shop tools.
Coordinate large-scale projects for system installation or replacement.
Align machines using precision tools and operate overhead cranes safely.
Provide technical support and prepare technical procedures, design sketches, and reports.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent, and a two-year college diploma in a related field of study.
Possess a valid Certificate of Qualification (433A or 426A) and a minimum of 5 years of Millwright experience.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and mathematical abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
Flexibility to work shift-based schedules, including weekends.
Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible to work in Canada.
