Are you a physician interested in playing a leadership role in preventing workplace injury and disease in British Columbia? WorkSafeBC is seeking a Medical Advisor to join their team in the Medical Services department. In this role, you will work with adjudicative staff, safety officers, and community physicians to assist injured workers in their recovery and safe return to work. Your responsibilities will include providing medico-legal opinions on workers' medical conditions, causes, and treatments.

As a Medical Advisor, you will evaluate medical impairments, provide evidence-based recommendations, collaborate with community physicians, and work in a team environment to support injured workers. The position offers a flexible work model with both remote and office-based work options.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate medical impairments and disabilities and provide opinions on cause, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis
  • Provide evidence-based medical recommendations to adjudicating officers
  • Collaborate with community physicians to ensure workers' medical needs are met
  • Work in a team environment to provide opinions and recommendations
  • WorkSafeBC is looking for candidates who can apply academic and clinical knowledge to help injured workers recover and return to work safely. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively are essential. The ideal candidate will have a full licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia, at least five years of clinical experience, and an interest in rehabilitation, mental health, or occupational medicine.

    Qualifications:

  • Eligible for full licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia
  • Minimum of five years of clinical practice experience
  • Interest in occupational health, safety, and disability management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Before finalizing any offer of employment, candidates must meet legal requirements under the Criminal Records Review Act and confirm eligibility to work in Canada. WorkSafeBC offers a competitive compensation package, including CME opportunities, pension plan, vacation time, and health benefits. The salary for the Medical Advisor position ranges from $102.05 hourly to $106.57 hourly.
