Shared Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join their team at Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg. Under the supervision of the Charge Technologist, the MLA will assist in sample triaging, accessioning, and processing of specimens, as well as performing routine procedures and phlebotomies. The ideal candidate will have previous related experience and a Medical Laboratory Assistant program.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with sample triaging, accessioning, and specimen processing

Perform routine procedures and phlebotomies according to departmental policy

Maintain a safe environment and ensure compliance with quality assurance programs

Adhere to professional guidelines and accreditation standards

Qualifications:

Completed Grade 12 or equivalent, Manitoba Standards

Medical Laboratory Assistant program completion preferred

CSMLS Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification preferred

Proficiency in Windows computer environment

Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and medical terminology

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Effective communication skills in English

Fluency in French and English may be required

Basic math skills and attention to detail

Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification preferred.

Qualifications and Skills

Windows computer environment required.
 Microsoft Office programs preferred.
 Medical terminology preferred.
 Sterile techniques and routine practices preferred.
 50  55 wpm keyboarding skills an asset.
 Apply basic math concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
 Follow oral and written instructions precisely with attention to detail.
 Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills required in English.
 Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member.
 Work under pressure.
 Maintains confidentiality with all information entrusted to the position.
 Fluent language skills (written and oral) in both French and English may be required.
 Ability to perform duties as described.
