This job posting is for a Medical Laboratory Assistant position at Shared Health - Dauphin Regional Health Centre in Dauphin. The position is a term position due to maternity leave, with an anticipated start date of February 6, 2026, and an end date of August 20, 2026. The role involves assisting the laboratory in sample triaging, accessioning, processing specimens, and performing basic routine procedures. The position requires maintaining a safe environment, compliance with quality assurance programs, and adherence to professional guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with sample triaging, accessioning, and processing of specimens
  • Perform basic routine procedures according to established protocols
  • Conduct phlebotomies following departmental policy
  • Maintain a safe environment and ensure compliance with quality assurance programs
  • Adhere to standards set by Accreditation
  • Qualifications:

  • Completed Grade 12 or equivalent, Manitoba Standards
  • Completion of a Medical Laboratory Assistant program preferred
  • Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification preferred
  • Experience in a Windows computer environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Familiarity with sterile techniques and routine practices
  • Keyboarding skills of 50 - 55 wpm an asset
  • Ability to apply basic math concepts
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Maintain confidentiality and work under pressure
  • Fluency in French and English may be required
  • Ability to perform duties as described
