UBC is seeking two Medical Office Assistants to join the Student Health Services team. The role involves providing clerical support in a client-centred care model. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, data entry, maintaining medical records, and handling financial transactions. The successful candidate must possess good judgment, work well in a fast-paced environment, and maintain strict confidentiality.

The Medical Office Assistant will report to the Manager and take direction from physicians and nursing staff. Duties include providing excellent customer service, dealing with complaints, scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and transcribing clinical notes. Financial responsibilities include billing, processing payments, and reconciling claims. Administrative tasks include typing, filing, and maintaining office supplies.

Communication skills are essential, as the Assistant will interact with a diverse stakeholder population and provide information on health services. Clinical support duties involve maintaining examination rooms, organizing equipment, and performing diagnostic procedures. General office duties and other tasks as required are also part of the role.

Minimum qualifications include high school graduation, one year of post-secondary education, completion of a Medical or Dental Office Assistant program, and three years of related experience. Preferred qualifications include proficiency in medical terminology, electronic medical records, and various software applications. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
