As an MRT I, you will perform radiological imaging exams for disease diagnosis, interpret requisitions, and produce diagnostic images. You may conduct general radiography, portable exams, and fluoroscopy. This position is based at the Peter Lougheed Centre with a temporary part-time schedule. The salary ranges from $38.74 to $51.02 per hour.

Completion of diploma from an accredited MRT program

Active or eligible for registration with ACMDTT

Current BCLS-HCP certification

2 years of acute care and Operating Room experience

Ability to operate C-arm and collaborate with OR staff

Good interpersonal and communication skills

Effective radiation protection and infection control practices

Knowledge of Epic (Connect Care) system

This role has a dominant Operating Room weighting and the successful candidate is expected to perform, produce, and record a variety of defined diagnostic imaging examinations which include but are not limited to ensuring that the quality of patient care is maintained at a high level. Is responsible for safety measures and the general care and cleanliness of their respective area, particularly as it applies to infection control and radiation safety measures. Operates, maintains, and reports malfunctions of all instrumentation and equipment. Performs daily Quality Assurance activities such as Daily exam logs, phantom QA, failed verification checks, image corrections, etc. as required.

As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) I, you will perform a variety of standard technical radiological imaging examinations on patients for the purpose of disease and pathology diagnosis. You will interpret physician requisitions, prepare and assess patients for examination and produce high quality diagnostic images for Physician/Radiologist review, and assist with the care and maintenance of equipment. Your work may include a variety of procedures such as general and portable radiography, mobile and surgical suite examinations, as well as fluoroscopy where required.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLSHCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

2 years experience in acute care site. 2 years experience in the Operating Room. Ability to operate Carm and work collaboratively with OR staff, Surgeons, and Anesthetists.
