**Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Diabetes, Obesity, and Related Disorders (12-month contract)**

**Remote -- Greater Vancouver Area, BC**

**Introduction**

We are hiring an MSL in Diabetes, Obesity, and related disorders for one of leading global pharmaceutical clients, Eli Lilly, based in the Greater Vancouver Area of British Columbia. The MSL will serve as a scientific resource for Canadian experts in the field of Diabetes, Obesity and related disorders. The MSL is responsible for responding to requests for in-depth, cutting-edge scientific information from the medical community in the fields of diabetes and chronic weight management including the latest scientific literature, the latest research from major scientific conferences, updates on Lilly's educational activities and Lilly's pipeline research activities.

The MSL will also gather feedback and insight from Scientific Experts and Thought Leaders to better inform Lilly's research and overall strategic direction. By facilitating scientific exchange between the academic community and Lilly, the MSL has the opportunity to shape the future of healthcare with information that addresses important clinical and scientific questions.

In all interactions, the MSL has responsibility to ensure that activities are compliant with all applicable guidelines, Rules and Regulations for Conducting Research, IMC Code of Conduct, Eli Lilly Canada Policies & Procedures, and other prevailing regulations/codes that may pertain to their work in the future. This is a 12-month contract position, with potential for renewal. Coverage for this role will be mostly in Vancouver, Kelowna, and Victoria, as well as travel once a month to Calgary and Winnipeg, until the end of March.

**Responsibilities**

  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial, peer-to-peer relationships with the scientific community
  • Continually enhance scientific knowledge
  • Support the affiliate medical business objectives and cross functional partners
  • **Requirements**

  • Education and Experience: Advanced degree in health sciences (PhD, MD, Pharm D)
  • Previous MSL experience (3 years) and sound knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Territory & Travel: Coverage territory is British Colombia, predominately in the greater Vancouver area and beyond, with some potential responsibility for Calgary and Winnipeg. This position is field-based with preference for employee located in the greater Vancouver area. Daily travel within the territory is required. This includes overnight travel commitments each month, as well as periodic weekend commitments. Meetings and/or conferences may require travel to other provinces outside of western Canada and outside Canada.
  • Intellectual curiosity and intelligence about the field of Endocrinology, Chronic Weight Management and other related disorders.
  • Ability to critically appraise scientific information / literature.
  • Strong presentation skills including the ability to comprehend large amounts of scientific content, and communicate in a clear, concise fashion.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong/collaborative peer-to-peer relationships with external customers.
  • Familiarity with the academic community and medical research.
  • Significant direct experience in servicing customer needs for complex information.
  • Experience in professional networking with positive mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills including an ability to work effectively with internal colleagues and cross-functional team members.
  • Strong project management skills with an ability to work within teams to prioritize key projects and medical tactics.
  • Strong desire and willingness to deliver on key performance measures.
  • Significant clinical or research work in the areas of Endocrinology and Chronic Weight Management.
  • Previous Medical Science Liaison experience considered an asset.
